En Divina Luz: The Penitente Moradas of New Mexico
Published in Hardcover by University of New Mexico Press (October, 1994)
Authors: Craig Varjabedian, Michael Wallis, and Hermano F. Ortega
Average review score:

An extremely beautiful book on a mysterious subject.
I am a landscape photograper, like Mr. Varjabedian is, but not as good. His photographs are some of the best I have ever seen in my entire life, even better than Ansel Adams. This book is about "Los Hermanos Penitentes," or the Penitent Brothers, a Catholic lay brotherhood that was founded because of a lack of preists in New Mexico. The Brother's activities have always been very secret, but have been aggrandized by the early white settlers in the region. Mr. Wallis' text illuminates and fully explains this unusual brotherhood. I highly, highly reccomend this book to anyone interested in the history of New Mexico or, anyone who appreciates fine black and white photographs.

Entropy Analysis - An Introduction to Chemical Thermodynamics (Paper)
Published in Paperback by John Wiley and Sons Ltd (16 June, 1997)
Author: NC Craig
Average review score:

Good, but...
It is certainly a good intro to Thermodynamics book, but it'stoo skimpy for the money. At only 200 pages, it isn't a completetextbook on the subject, but noteworthy and significant nonetheless.

Ephrata Cloister: Pennsylvania Trail of History Guide
Published in Paperback by Stackpole Books (September, 2000)
Authors: John Bradley and Craig A. Benner
Average review score:

Beautiful Guide is concise and up-to-date
The author and photographer of this new guide to the Ephrata Cloister show their love and understanding of this unusual historic site. John Bradley does a wonderful job of capturing tons of history and the flavor of this religious experiment in a few, well-crafted words. The photographer, Craig A. Benner, obviously selected only the best of a lifetime of great photographs that take you to all corners of the Cloister and capture the distinctive look of the medieval-style architecture and peaceful atmosphere. There's nothing in my extensive collection of books on this site that captures the experience of this unique place as well as this book. Short of a visit there's nothing I'd recommend more... and then, the book would serve you well with it's map and site guide.

Essentials of Business Law and the Legal Environment

Authors: Len Young Smith, Richard A. Mann, Barry S. Roberts, Smithmann, and Craig
Average review score:

Business Law Explained for the Intelligent Layman
I was given this book for free by someone who had used it for a college course and didn't want it. I couldn't believe the person wanted to throw it away. This book tells all the basics of business law. If you don't know anything about business law, read it. It is a good book for beginners. I know I will keep it for a reference book for a long time. I am starting my own business and I refer to it all the time. Not only does the book tells just about everything you need to know about business law, it gives actual descriptions of court cases to illustrate the points of each section. A very good buy & an excellent reference book!

Amazing study cram book
This textbook has put me through my two years of respiratory therapy classes. I found it in the library and have been using it ever since to study with. It is to the point and well written. I like it so much that I plan on buying it for clinical year. I am hoping that the author decides to publish a newer edition soon though. This book covers everything you will EVER be tested on. Definetly, good to have!

Evidence Based Pediatrics and Child Health
Published in Hardcover by B M J Books (15 June, 2000)
Authors: Virginia A. Moyer, Elizabeth Elliott, Robert L. Davis, Ruth Gilbert, Terry Klassen, Stuart Logan, Craig Mellis, and Katrina Williams
Average review score:

Evidence based pediatrics and child health
This is a very impressive and timely book on Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) by 74 contributors in the field of pediatrics and child health from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Holland and Italy.
The term EBM was developed by Sackett and colleagues from the McMaster University (Sackett DL et al. Evidence based medicine. BMJ 1996;312:71-2) as "the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients" or in other words, good medical practice based on as much facts as possible for the benefit of your patient. Since 1991 this field has been incooporated into many medical schools around the work, textbooks published and now we see it reaching pediatrics and child health.
This superbly edited book (updates will be regularly posted on www.evidbasedpediatrics.com) is devided into three sections: "Finding, evaluating and applying the evidence"; "Evidence for routine practices: screening/prevention" and finally "Common pediatrics conditions" with a good and comprehensive index.
The steps in the practice of Evidence Based Pediatrics (EBP) are: to evaluate the clinical situation (by history, by examination and laboratory tests), identify information needs and structure clinical questions, search for relevant information from the literature, evaluate the evidence found or identify lack of evidence and finally apply the evidence to your patients.
You will find many useful and structured entries in this book from the issue of the "well child" to the common pediatric problems of otitis media, constipation, short stature or croup.
We believe that this important book should find its way to the desks of the practicing pediatrician, the lecturer in child health and the researcher in pediatrics.

An Excess of Enchantments
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Ace Books (25 February, 2003)
Author: Craig Shaw Gardner
Average review score:

silly book, lots of fun
I suppose you'd have to have a certain sense of humor when reading this book (as with any of the other Wuntvor books). It's hilarious, it's intentioanlly cliche, and it's just so much fun to read. I wish it weren't out of print, or else I'd buy this for all my fun loving friends! =o)

Faith Tango: A Liberating Approach to Spiritual Growth in Marriage
Published in Paperback by Waterbrook Press (19 November, 2002)
Authors: Carolyn Williford and Craig Williford
Average review score:

Wonderful book! Very practical and helpful!
At first, I thought this book would be about couples having devotional time together, but the authors look at a much broader definition of spiritual growth. This book will help couples become closer together and closer to God, and will help facilitate good communication, which is often the #1 problem in marriage.

You will read about how Carolyn and Craig started setting aside time on Saturday mornings, early in their marriage, and how that has really benefited their relationship over the years (they've been married for over 28 years now). They set aside that time to "just talk" and they make it a priority - they do everything possible to avoid anything interfering with that time.

They also talk about the "S" word - submission, which is such a hot topic in Christian marriage. I really liked how they explained submission and what it means to live sacrificially.

There's a lot of great ideas in this book about how to improve your communication and near the end of the book, there is one chapter mostly for women and one mostly for men. Both are excellent.

The authors are very real and don't give the impression at all that they are the perfect couple with no problems. They tell about some of their disagreements and how they were resolved. I think their vulnerability in their writing will help other couples a great deal!

I highly recommend this book!

Familiar Things
Published in Paperback by Linwood Pub (January, 1997)
Author: Craig Challender
Average review score:

This is a raw and powerful volume of narrative poetry.
Challender understands how our dead and our dying haunt us, how the past has an immediate and physical effect on the present--especially for those who feel personal guilt and who feel they can't avoid their responsibility for that past. And he brings this understanding to the page here with an economical clarity and concision that is really remarkable in its ability to sound fresh, to approach surrealism without losing focus, to leave us breathless. --From the Summer issue of THE PRAIRIE SCHOONER Reviewer, Joel Peckham
